Final Animation

Image
Here is our Final animation titled; Eden Creating animation in a traditional way was a lot more gruelling than anticipated, we had drawn roughly over 400 frames/drawings and we still had a lot of work in sight. Creating this has given me a huge sense of respect towards people who create frame based animation for a living as I have really experienced now I can fully understand how hard something like that is.  One issue with our animation is that the scans of our drawings came out very bright as our pencil work was so light and rough for the in betweens we had to edited heavily to be seen. The few frames we did digitally draw over, in my opinion, looked great and had a real sense of movement and life toward them. My favourite scene is the end shot of the tiger running as I think it was drawn just perfectly and looks as if it's moving really fast using a frame skip technique that we were taught. If I were to re do this project over I would definitely chang...

Short animation of Keyframes in production

Image
Here are some more frames in production, the the pan up is the first scene of animation followed by a few quick keyframes of the tiger walking which will have a few more in-betweens within it but the shot itself isn't that long so not too many more. And the tiger jumping out at the camera is also a fully finished scene that needs to be lined and coloured.

Fully coloured scene Tryout

Image
Here is a fully coloured scene of toga wandering through the hallway, I really think that colour helps convey the her worrying look of emotion on her face it just makes her seem so much more human than just a blank sketch on a piece of paper. The vivid background looks great against the character and helps make her pop against the background.

Keyframes of Toga walking and Tiger

Image
Here are the Keyframes for toga walking down the hallway looking afraid and unaware of where she is and how she reacts with the tiger jumping out on her. We also used this as an example of how we can show the tiger in a bit more of a fantastical entrance into battling our protagonist. The scenes aren't necessarily in the correct order as toga should be holding her hands up protecting herself after the tiger is seen and then jumps out at her. But the animation is looking fluid and has a real sense of life to it.

Updated Final Storyboard (Post Animatic)

Image
Once we have reviewed our animatic we had a team talk on what scenes we should extend or make shorter leading us to update our storyboard, and time slots subsequently. The storyboard is much clearer with a lot less clutter and a more direct approach to showing visuals

East of Eden Animatic

Image
Here is the animatic for our East of Eden animation, the timings match up perfectly with the music which is a great start. However the animatic points out what scenes need to be longer and what scenes should be much shorter with more frames which is a good starting point for working on the final animatic.

Toga Coloured Designs

Image
We started out by colouring toga with simple block colours, using quick washes of water colour to give her some life through her colour. We purposely tried to stay away from green as our background will be a light green and didn't wanna have any visual issues when it came to deciphering whats happening. We then figured out a set colour palette for her, detailed below. My favourite part of toga, is her orange triangle nose, I think it really adds a sense of personality to her and gives her a unique likeness to perhaps people we know.
